DIY Worm Farm

Materials:

• Two plastic storage bins, one slightly smaller than the other
• Drill
• Newspaper
• Shredded paper or cardboard
• Cocoa coir or other bedding material
• Worms
• Kitchen scraps

Instructions:

1. Drill holes in the bottom and sides of the smaller bin. These holes will allow drainage and aeration.
2. Place a layer of newspaper or mesh in the bottom of the larger bin. This will prevent the worms from escaping.
3. Add a layer of bedding material, such as cocoa coir or shredded paper, to the larger bin. The bedding should be moist but not soggy.
4. Add the worms to the bedding material.
5. Place the smaller bin inside the larger bin. This will create a drainage system for the worm farm.
6. Add kitchen scraps to the top of the bedding material. Avoid adding meat, dairy, or oily foods.
7. Cover the worm farm with a lid or piece of cardboard.
8. Place the worm farm in a cool, dark location.

Tips:

• Keep the bedding material moist but not soggy.
• Add food scraps regularly.
• Harvest the worm castings every few months.
