To make a DIY tie blanket, you will need two pieces of fleece fabric in the same or contrasting colors, a pair of fabric scissors, and a ruler.
- Lay the two pieces of fleece fabric on top of each other, wrong sides together.
- Cut out a 5-inch square from each corner of the fabric.
- Starting at one corner, cut 5-inch-long slits along the edge of the fabric, spacing them 1 inch apart. Be sure to cut through both layers of fabric.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 on all four sides of the fabric.
- To tie the blanket together, hold two pieces of fringe (one from the top layer and one from the bottom layer) together and tie a square knot.
- Repeat step 5 with all of the fringe pieces, working your way around the blanket.
- Once all of the fringe pieces are tied, trim any excess fabric.
