To build a DIY stone fire pit, you will need:
- Stones (pavers, bricks, etc.)
- Sand
- Landscape adhesive
- Level
- Shovel
- Tamper
- Lava rocks (optional)
Instructions:
- Choose a flat, level location for your fire pit, away from structures and low-hanging branches.
- Remove the sod from the area where the fire pit will be located.
- Create a base of sand, about 2 inches thick.
- Lay the first layer of stones in a circle, alternating large and small stones to create a pattern.
- Use a level to make sure the stones are level all the way around.
- Apply landscape adhesive to the top of the stones.
- Lay the second layer of stones, alternating the pattern.
- Repeat steps 6 and 7 until the fire pit is the desired height.
- Fill in any gaps between the stones with landscape adhesive.
- Add lava rocks to the bottom of the fire pit (optional).
Your DIY stone fire pit is now complete! Enjoy s’mores and cozy evenings by the fire.
