Solar Oven Diy

To make a solar oven, you will need:

• A cardboard box
• Aluminum foil
• Clear plastic wrap
• Black construction paper (optional)
• Insulating material (optional)
• Tape
• Scissors
• A cooking surface (such as a black skillet or pan)

Instructions:

1. Cut a flap in the lid of the box.
2. Cover the inside of the flap with aluminum foil, shiny side up.
3. Tape the flap shut.
4. (Optional) Cover the inside of the box with black construction paper.
5. (Optional) Add insulation to the box, such as polystyrene, packing foam, newspaper, or fiberglass insulation.
6. Cover the opening in the lid with clear plastic wrap, taping it in place.
7. Place the cooking surface inside the box.
8. Place the solar oven in direct sunlight and prop the lid open slightly to allow air to circulate.
9. Place your food on the cooking surface and cook until done.

Tips:

• For best results, use a box that is at least 12 inches deep.
• If you are using a cardboard box, make sure to line it with aluminum foil to prevent the box from getting wet.
• If you are using insulation, make sure to leave a small gap at the top of the box to allow air to circulate.
• To preheat your solar oven, place it in direct sunlight for about 30 minutes.
• On a sunny day, your solar oven should reach temperatures of up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Be careful not to overcook your food in a solar oven, as it can cook more slowly than in a traditional oven.
