To build a simple outdoor oven, you will need:

• Fire bricks
• Mortar
• Sand
• Concrete
• Chimney flue
• Rebar
• Wire mesh
• Tools (shovel, wheelbarrow, trowel, level, etc.)

First, choose a location for your oven. It should be on level ground and away from any flammable objects. Then, dig a hole for the foundation. The hole should be twice as wide as the oven and about 18 inches deep. Fill the hole with sand and tamp it down to create a level base.

Next, build a concrete slab for the oven to sit on. The slab should be 4 inches thick and extend at least 6 inches beyond the edges of the oven. To make the slab, mix concrete according to the package directions. Pour the concrete into the prepared hole and smooth it out with a trowel.

Once the slab has cured, build the base of the oven. Lay a layer of fire bricks on the slab, using mortar to hold them in place. Be sure to leave a small gap between the bricks for the mortar to expand.

Next, build the walls of the oven. Stack fire bricks on top of the base, using mortar to hold them in place. The walls should be at least 12 inches high. Leave an opening at the front of the oven for the door.

Once the walls are built, install the chimney flue. Cut a hole in the top of the oven to accommodate the flue. Then, mortar the flue into place.

Finally, build the roof of the oven. Cut a piece of wire mesh to fit over the top of the oven. Then, lay a layer of fire bricks on top of the wire mesh. Use mortar to hold the bricks in place.

Once the oven is complete, allow the mortar to cure for at least 24 hours before using it.

To use the oven, start by preheating it for about 30 minutes. Then, add your food and cook until it is done. Be sure to monitor the oven carefully to avoid overcooking your food.
