To make a simple DIY Little Red Riding Hood costume, you will need:
- Red fabric (such as velvet, jersey, or flannel)
- Red ribbon
- Sewing supplies
- Tailor’s chalk
- Scissors
Instructions:
- Cut out a rectangle of red fabric that is twice as long as your desired cape length and as wide as you want the cape to be.
- Fold the fabric in half lengthwise and sew along the long edge, leaving a 6-inch gap at the top for the hood.
- Turn the cape right side out and press the seam flat.
- Cut out a triangular hood from the remaining fabric.
- Sew the hood to the cape opening, leaving a 1/2-inch seam allowance.
- Turn the hood right side out and press the seam flat.
- Thread the ribbon through the hood opening and tie it in a bow.
- To complete the costume, add a red skirt or dress, white tights, and black shoes.
Optional:
- You can add a basket and a pretend loaf of bread to your costume to make it more realistic.
- You can also add a wolf mask or other accessories to your costume.
