To make a DIY floating nightstand, you will need:
- Wood (1×12 board is a good option)
- Pocket hole screws
- Pocket hole jig
- Drill
- Saw
- Level
- Stud finder
- Tape measure
- Pencil
- Wood glue
- Finish of your choice (stain, paint, etc.)
Instructions:
- Cut the wood to size. You will need four pieces: two for the top and bottom (24 inches long) and two for the sides (11.5 inches long).
- Drill pocket holes in the sides of the nightstand, using the pocket hole jig.
- Assemble the nightstand using pocket hole screws and wood glue. Make sure everything is square and level.
- Attach a 1×4 board to the back of the nightstand, using wood glue and screws. This will help to support the nightstand when it is mounted on the wall.
- Find two studs in the wall where you want to mount the nightstand. Mark the locations of the studs on the wall and on the back of the nightstand.
- Drill pilot holes in the studs and in the back of the nightstand.
- Use screws to attach the nightstand to the wall.
- Finish the nightstand with your choice of stain or paint.
Once the nightstand is finished, you can add drawers, shelves, or other features to suit your needs.
