Diy Yellow Jacket Trap

To make a simple DIY yellow jacket trap, you will need:

• A 2-liter bottle
• 1/4 cup of sugar
• 1 cup of apple cider vinegar
• 1 banana peel
• Water

Instructions:

1. Cut the top off of the bottle and invert it, placing the funnel-shaped top into the bottom of the bottle.
2. Mix the sugar, apple cider vinegar, and water in a bowl.
3. Add the banana peel to the bottle.
4. Pour the sugar mixture into the bottle, filling it about halfway.
5. Place the trap in an area where yellow jackets are active.

Yellow jackets will be attracted to the sweet smell of the bait and will fly into the bottle. Once inside, they will be unable to escape and will eventually drown.

Tips:

• You can also add a few drops of dish soap to the bait mixture. This will help to break down the surface tension of the water, making it easier for the yellow jackets to drown.
• Place the trap in a sunny spot. Yellow jackets are more active in warm weather.
• If the trap is not filling up with yellow jackets, try moving it to a different location.
• Empty the trap regularly to prevent the yellow jackets from decomposing and creating a foul odor.
