To make DIY yarn pom poms, you will need:
- Yarn
- Cardboard
- Scissors
- Long piece of yarn (to tie around the pom pom)
Instructions:
- Cut two circles out of cardboard, the same size as you want your pom pom to be.
- Place the two circles together and wrap yarn around them, leaving a long tail at the end.
- Wrap the yarn tightly around the cardboard circles, until you have a thick layer of yarn.
- Cut through the yarn loops between the two cardboard circles, using the long tail of yarn to tie the pom pom tightly in the middle.
- Remove the cardboard circles and fluff up the pom pom.
- Trim the pom pom to shape, and you’re done!
Tips:
- For a fluffier pom pom, wrap the yarn more times around the cardboard circles.
- You can use two different colors of yarn to make a striped pom pom.
- To make a pom pom without cardboard, you can wrap the yarn around your hand instead.
Once you have made your pom poms, you can use them to decorate hats, scarves, blankets, pillows, and more.
