DIY Umbrella Stand

• Materials:

  • Large plastic bucket
  • PVC pipe (diameter should be slightly larger than the umbrella shaft)
  • Concrete mix
  • Water
  • Duct tape
  • River pebbles or lava rocks

• Tools:

  • Drill with a 1/2-inch bit
  • Level
  • Safety glasses
  • Dust mask

• Instructions:

  1. Tape the bottom of the PVC pipe shut.
  2. Place the pipe in the center of the bucket and use duct tape to hold it in place.
  3. Mix the concrete according to the package directions.
  4. Pour the concrete into the bucket, around the PVC pipe.
  5. Use a level to make sure the pipe is level.
  6. Allow the concrete to dry completely.
  7. Remove the duct tape from the pipe and bucket.
  8. Fill the bottom of the bucket with river pebbles or lava rocks.
  9. Place the umbrella stand in a desired location.

• Tips:

  • For a more decorative umbrella stand, you can paint the PVC pipe or bucket.
  • You can also add a drainage hole to the bottom of the bucket by drilling a small hole and inserting a rubber plug.
  • If you are using the umbrella stand outdoors, be sure to use a concrete mix that is specifically designed for outdoor use.
