To make a DIY tile backsplash, you will need:

• Tile
• Thinset mortar
• Grout
• Tile spacers

Instructions:

1. Prepare the wall. Make sure the wall is clean, dry, and free of debris. Use a level to mark a horizontal line on the wall where the bottom row of tiles will go.
2. Mix the thinset mortar. Follow the instructions on the package to mix the thinset mortar.
3. Apply the thinset mortar to the wall. Use a notched trowel to apply the thinset mortar to the wall, starting at the bottom row and working your way up. Be sure to leave a 1/16-inch gap between the tiles for grout.
4. Set the tiles. Place the tiles on the wall, starting at the bottom row and working your way up. Use tile spacers to keep the tiles evenly spaced.
5. Cut tiles to fit. If necessary, use a wet saw or tile nippers to cut tiles to fit around outlets and other obstacles.
6. Let the thinset mortar dry. Allow the thinset mortar to dry completely before grouting.
7. Grout the tiles. Mix the grout according to the package instructions. Apply the grout to the tiles using a grout float. Be sure to work the grout into all of the joints between the tiles.
8. Remove excess grout. Use a damp sponge to remove excess grout from the tiles.
9. Seal the grout. Apply a grout sealer to the grout to protect it from stains.
