Tie-dye is a fun and easy way to create unique and colorful fabric designs. It is a resist-dyeing technique, which means that you use ties or rubber bands to create barriers that prevent the dye from absorbing into the fabric evenly. To tie-dye, you will need:

• White 100% cotton fabric

• Soda ash (optional, depending on the type of dye you are using)
• Rubber bands or string
• Buckets or squirt bottles for applying dye
• Plastic wrap or a large plastic bag

Instructions:

1. Prewash the fabric without fabric softener.
2. If you are using soda ash, mix 1 cup of soda ash with 1 gallon of water in a bucket. Soak the fabric in the soda ash solution for 30 minutes.
3. Wring out the fabric and fold it into your desired design. There are many different ways to fold and tie fabric for tie-dye. Some popular techniques include:
   • Spiral: Pinch the center of the fabric and twist it into a spiral. Hold the spiral in place with rubber bands.
   • Scrunch: Scrunch the fabric into a ball and tie it tightly with rubber bands.
   • Stripes: Fold the fabric accordion-style and tie it with rubber bands at regular intervals.
   • Ombre: Dip the bottom of the fabric into a bucket of dye and gradually work your way up.
4. Apply the dye to the fabric. You can use a squirt bottle to apply the dye directly to the fabric, or you can dip the fabric into buckets of dye. Be sure to saturate the fabric completely.
5. Wrap the fabric in plastic wrap or place it in a large plastic bag. Let the dye set for 6-8 hours, or overnight.
6. Rinse the fabric in cold water until the water runs clear. Wash the fabric in the washing machine on a cold cycle with a mild detergent.
7. Dry the fabric on a low heat setting.

Your tie-dye creation is now complete!
