DIY sky lantern:
Materials:
- Wax paper
- Metal wire
- Candle wax
- Fabric (optional)
- String
- Lighter
Instructions:
- Cut a sheet of wax paper into a large rectangle.
- Roll the rectangle into a cylinder and glue the edges together.
- Cut a circle out of wax paper and glue it to one end of the cylinder to form a cap.
- Bend a piece of metal wire into a circle and glue it to the inside of the cylinder, near the cap. This will be the frame that holds the fuel source.
- If desired, cut a strip of fabric and dip it in melted candle wax. Then, tie the waxed fabric to the center of the wire frame. This will be the fuel source.
- Attach a long string to the bottom of the lantern.
- To launch the lantern, light the fuel source and let the lantern go. Be sure to launch the lantern in a safe area, away from trees and power lines.
