Diy Shiplap Wall

To DIY a shiplap wall, you will need:

• Wood (plywood, MDF, or real wood)
• Saw
• Nail gun
• Level
• Measuring tape
• Spacers (nickels, tile spacers, etc.)
• Finishing nails
• Putty
• Paint

Instructions:

1. Cut the wood into strips. The width of the strips is up to you, but most shiplap is 5-6 inches wide.
2. Measure and mark the location of the studs on the wall.
3. Starting at the bottom of the wall, nail the first strip of wood to the studs. Use a level to make sure the strip is straight.
4. Place a spacer between the first strip of wood and the next strip. Nail the next strip of wood to the studs.
5. Continue nailing strips of wood to the wall, using spacers to ensure even spacing.
6. Cut the last strip of wood to fit the space at the top of the wall. Nail it in place.
7. Fill any nail holes with putty.
8. Paint the shiplap wall if desired.

Tips:

• For a more rustic look, you can leave the shiplap unfinished.
• If you are using plywood, make sure to sand the edges before nailing them to the wall.
• Be careful not to overtighten the nails, or you could split the wood.
• If you are nailing the shiplap to drywall, use drywall screws instead of nails.
• If you are installing shiplap in a bathroom or kitchen, be sure to use a sealant to protect the wood from moisture.
