To make a DIY shadow box, you will need:
- Wood for the frame and back
- Glass or acrylic
- Hardware (hinges, screws, nails)
- Paint or stain (optional)
- Sandpaper
- Wood glue
- Measuring tape
- Saw
- Drill
- Screwdriver
- Hammer
- Hot glue gun (optional)
Instructions:
- Cut the wood to size for the frame and back of the shadow box.
- Sand the edges of the wood until smooth.
- Assemble the frame using wood glue and hardware.
- Cut the glass or acrylic to size.
- Attach the glass or acrylic to the front of the shadow box using hot glue or screws.
- Paint or stain the shadow box (optional).
- Attach the back of the shadow box to the frame using hinges and screws.
- Arrange your items inside the shadow box.
- Close the back of the shadow box and hang it on the wall.
Tips:
- Use a variety of materials inside your shadow box, such as seashells, tickets, dried flowers, or coins.
- Get creative with your design! There are no rules when it comes to shadow boxes.
- If you are using heavy items in your shadow box, make sure to use sturdy hardware to attach the back.
