Diy Roman Blinds

Diy Roman Blinds

To make DIY Roman blinds, you will need:

  • Fabric (enough to cover your window plus seam allowances)
  • Lining fabric (optional)
  • Dowels (slightly shorter than the width of your window)
  • Cord (enough to reach from the top of your window to the bottom, plus extra for tying)
  • Rings (one for each dowel rod)
  • Hooks (two for each side of your window)
  • Sewing machine
  • Thread
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Cut your fabric to size, adding seam allowances.
  2. If using a lining fabric, sew it to the back of your main fabric, right sides together.
  3. Hem the bottom of your blind.
  4. Fold the top of your blind over twice and sew to create a casing for the dowel rod.
  5. Insert the dowel rod into the casing and sew it in place at each end.
  6. Sew pockets across the back of your blind, spacing them evenly.
  7. Thread the cord through the rings and pockets, starting at the top and working your way down.
  8. Tie the ends of the cord together and secure them to the hooks on the sides of your window.

To raise and lower your blind, simply pull on the cords.

Here are some tips for making DIY Roman blinds:

  • Choose a fabric that is lightweight and easy to sew.
  • If you are using a lining fabric, make sure it is the same width as your main fabric.
  • Use a heavy-duty needle when sewing the dowel rod into the casing.
  • Be careful not to overfill the pockets with cord, or your blind will be difficult to raise and lower.
  • You can adjust the height of your blind by adding or removing dowel rods.

With a little bit of effort, you can create beautiful and custom-made Roman blinds for your home.
