Diy Ring Toss

Diy Ring Toss

To make a DIY ring toss game, you will need:

  • 12 empty soda bottles
  • Acrylic paint in 2 colors
  • Water
  • 16-inch pieces of 1-inch Manila twist rope (or pre-made rings)
  • Hot glue gun (or cyanoacrylate glue)
  • 2-inch painter’s tape (if using super glue)
  • 3/8-inch x 36-inch pine square dowel (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Clean the soda bottles with a rag and acetone.
  2. Mix equal parts acrylic paint with water in a plastic cup for each color.
  3. Pour the watered-down paint into the bottles and spin them around to coat the inside.
  4. Pour the excess paint back into the plastic cups.
  5. Paint six bottles in each color.
  6. Allow the bottles to dry completely.
  7. To make the rope rings, cut lengths of rope long enough to fit over the bottlenecks.
  8. Apply hot glue to one end of the rope and press the ends together firmly.
  9. Hold the ends together until the glue dries completely.
  10. Repeat steps 8-9 to make 10-12 rope rings.
  11. (Optional) To make a base for your ring toss game, cut the pine square dowel into two equal pieces.
  12. Drill a hole in the center of each dowel piece, about 1 inch from the end.
  13. Attach the dowel pieces to the sides of a table or other sturdy surface using screws or nails.

To play:

  1. Place the soda bottles in a row, spaced about 6 inches apart.
  2. Stand a few feet away from the bottles and toss the rope rings towards them.
  3. Try to land the rings around the necks of the bottles.
  4. Each ring that lands on a bottle scores one point.
  5. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Tips:

  • For a more challenging game, use smaller bottles or space them further apart.
  • You can also make the game more fun by decorating the bottles or rope rings with different colors or designs.
  • If you are playing with young children, use plastic rings instead of rope rings for safety reasons.
