DIY polished concrete floor

Tools and materials:

• Concrete grinder
• Diamond polishing pads (coarse, medium, fine, and extra fine)
• Densifier
• Sealer
• Safety glasses
• Dust mask
• Earplugs
• Gloves
• Knee pads

Steps:

1. Clean and prepare the floor. Remove all furniture and debris. Sweep and mop the floor to remove any dirt or dust. Repair any cracks or holes in the concrete.
2. Attach a coarse diamond polishing pad to the concrete grinder. Start grinding the floor in a circular motion, overlapping each pass slightly.
3. Once the entire floor has been ground with the coarse pad, switch to a medium pad and repeat the process. Continue grinding with progressively finer pads until the desired level of polish is achieved.
4. Apply a densifier to the concrete floor. This will help to harden and strengthen the surface.
5. Once the densifier has dried, apply a sealer to the floor. This will protect the surface from stains and wear.

Tips:

• Use a wet polishing technique to control dust.
• Be careful not to grind too deeply, or you may expose the aggregate below the surface.
• Wear safety gear to protect yourself from dust, noise, and vibration.

Safety warnings:

• Concrete grinding can produce a lot of dust. Wear a dust mask and goggles to protect yourself from inhalation and eye injuries.
