Diy Patio Cushions

DIY patio cushions can be a fun and rewarding project, and they can save you money compared to buying new cushions. To make your own patio cushions, you will need the following materials:

  • Outdoor fabric
  • Foam inserts
  • Sewing machine and thread
  • Sewing pins
  • Scissors
  • Zipper (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Measure your existing cushions or the furniture you want to make cushions for.
  2. Cut your fabric to size, adding a half-inch seam allowance on all sides.
  3. Pin your fabric pieces together, right sides together.
  4. Sew around the edges of the fabric, leaving a small opening for the zipper or turning.
  5. If using a zipper, insert it now and sew it in place.
  6. Turn the cushion cover right side out and insert the foam insert.
  7. Sew the opening closed.

Tips:

  • Use outdoor fabric that is waterproof and UV-resistant.
  • If you are making box cushions, you will need to cut two pieces of fabric for the top and bottom, and four pieces of fabric for the sides.
  • To make the corners easier to sew, clip them with a pair of scissors or fabric shears.
  • If you are not using a zipper, you can sew the cushion cover closed by hand or with a sewing machine.

Once your DIY patio cushions are finished, you can enjoy them on your patio or deck all season long!
