Diy Painting Kitchen Cabinets

To DIY paint kitchen cabinets:

1. Gather supplies: painter’s tape, TSP degreaser, wood filler, 60-grit and 360-grit sandpaper, all-surface primer, durable cabinet paint, paintbrush, foam roller, drop cloths.
2. Remove cabinet doors and drawer fronts. Label each door and drawer so you know where it goes back.
3. Clean the cabinetry. Use TSP degreaser to remove any grease or grime.
4. Fill any scuffs or nicks with wood filler. Allow the wood filler to dry completely.
5. Sand the cabinet doors and drawer fronts. Lightly sand with 60-grit sandpaper to remove any remaining finish. Then, sand with 360-grit sandpaper to smooth out the surface.
6. Apply a coat of primer. Use a paintbrush to apply primer to all surfaces of the cabinet doors and drawer fronts. Allow the primer to dry completely.
7. Paint the cabinets. Apply two coats of cabinet paint, allowing each coat to dry completely before applying the next.
8. Reattach the cabinet doors and drawer fronts.
9. Enjoy your newly painted cabinets!

Tips:

• For a smoother finish, use a foam roller to apply the paint.
• Be sure to sand lightly between coats of paint.
• Use painter’s tape to protect any areas you don’t want to paint, such as countertops or hardware.
