To make a padded headboard, you will need plywood, upholstery foam, batting, fabric, and a staple gun. Cut the plywood to the size you want your headboard to be. Cut the foam to the same size as the plywood. Cut the batting to a size that is at least 5 inches larger than the plywood on all sides. Place the foam on the plywood and center the batting on top of the foam. Staple the batting to the plywood, pulling it tightly around the edges. Cut the fabric to a size that is at least 6 inches larger than the plywood on all sides. Place the fabric face down on a flat surface and place the headboard on top of it, face down as well. Staple the fabric to the plywood, pulling it tightly around the edges. Trim any excess fabric.
