Diy Outdoor Cushions

DIY outdoor cushions are a great way to save money and add a personal touch to your outdoor space. They can be made in any size, shape, or fabric to match your existing furniture and décor.

To make your own outdoor cushions, you will need:

  • Outdoor fabric
  • Cushion foam
  • Sewing machine
  • Thread
  • Zipper (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Measure the seat where the new cushion will go. Add 2 inches to each side for seam allowances.
  2. Cut two pieces of fabric for the top and bottom of the cushion. Cut two side panels, each the length of the cushion plus 2 inches for seam allowances.
  3. Pin the side panels to the top and bottom pieces, right sides together. Sew along the pinned edges, leaving a 6-inch opening in one side.
  4. If using a zipper, insert it into the opening in the side panel. Sew the zipper in place.
  5. Turn the cushion cover right side out. Insert the cushion foam.
  6. Sew the opening in the side panel closed.

Tips:

  • Choose a fabric that is specifically designed for outdoor use. Outdoor fabrics are typically waterproof, UV-resistant, and fade-resistant.
  • If you are using a zipper, make sure it is also waterproof.
  • To make the corners of your cushion covers easier to sew, clip the edges of the fabric at the corners before sewing.
  • Once your cushion covers are sewn, you can spray them with a waterproof sealant to add extra protection.
