Diy Leather Wallet

To make a DIY leather wallet, you will need:

• Leather (3-4 oz weight vegetable tanned leather is a good choice)
• Wallet pattern (optional, but can be helpful)
• Diamond chisel set
• Sewing awl
• Waxed thread
• Stitching pony (optional, but can make stitching easier)
• Stitching groover
• Jojoba oil or other leather-friendly oil
• X-acto knife
• Ruler
• Rubber mallet
• Spray bottle
• Gum tragacanth
• Edge slicker
• Leather cement
• Small piece of cardboard
• Small clamps
• Poly cutting board or cutting mat
• Fine grit sandpaper

Instructions:

1. Cut out the wallet pieces from the leather using the pattern (if using) or your own design.
2. Use a diamond chisel set to punch holes along the stitching lines.
3. Sew the wallet pieces together using a sewing awl and waxed thread.
4. Use a stitching groover to burnish the edges of the wallet.
5. Apply a light coat of jojoba oil to the wallet to protect the leather.

Optional steps:

• Use a rubber mallet and gum tragacanth to burnish the edges of the wallet for a more finished look.
• Use edge slicker to smooth the edges of the wallet.
• Use leather cement to glue a small piece of cardboard to the back of the wallet to add stiffness.

Once the wallet is complete, you can use it to store your cards and cash.
