DIY hammock straps are a great way to save money and get the perfect fit for your hammock. They are also relatively easy to make, even if you are not a skilled sewist.
To make your own hammock straps, you will need:
- Two lengths of strong webbing (at least 2 inches wide)
- Two buckles (at least 1 inch wide)
- Four tri-glide rings (at least 1 inch wide)
- Needle and thread
- Scissors
Instructions:
- Cut the webbing to the desired length. The length of your straps will depend on the distance between the trees where you plan to hang your hammock. A good rule of thumb is to cut the straps at least 10 feet long.
- Fold one end of each strap over 4 inches and sew it in place. This will create a loop at the end of the strap.
- Thread the buckle through the loop on one end of the strap. Then, thread the buckle through the tri-glide ring and back through the loop on the strap.
- Tighten the buckle and sew it in place on the strap.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the other strap.
- To hang your hammock, simply wrap the straps around the trees and thread the loose ends of the straps through the buckles. Then, tighten the buckles and secure them in place.
Enjoy your DIY hammock straps!
