DIY Fabric Garland
Materials:
- Fabric strips, about 1-2 inches wide and 6-9 inches long
- String or twine
- Scissors
Instructions:
- Cut your fabric into strips. You can use any type of fabric you like, but cotton and linen work well.
- Fold each strip in half lengthwise.
- Tie the folded end of the fabric strip to the string, making a loop.
- Continue tying fabric strips to the string until you have the desired length of garland.
- Trim any excess string and hang your garland up!
Tips:
- Use a variety of fabrics to create a more interesting garland.
- You can also use different colors and patterns to create a festive garland for holidays or special occasions.
- If you want to add some extra flair, you can sew or glue embellishments to the fabric strips before tying them to the string.
No-Sew Fabric Garland
For a no-sew version of the fabric garland, you can use fabric glue to attach the fabric strips to the string. Simply apply a small amount of glue to the folded end of the fabric strip and press it onto the string. Hold it in place for a few seconds until the glue dries.
Fabric Garland Variations
- Tassel Garland: For a tassel garland, cut your fabric strips into longer strips, about 1-2 inches wide and 12-18 inches long. Fold the strip in half lengthwise and tie a knot at the top. Then, cut the fringe at the bottom of the strip.
- Rag Garland: For a rag garland, cut your fabric strips into longer strips, about 1-2 inches wide and 12-18 inches long. Tie the strips to the string in a loose knot, leaving some space between the strips. Then, fray the edges of the fabric for a rustic look.
- Felt Garland: Felt is a great fabric to use for garlands because it doesn’t fray and it’s easy to cut. To make a felt garland, simply cut your felt into desired shapes and tie them to the string.
No matter what type of fabric garland you choose to make, it’s a fun and easy way to add a personal touch to your home décor.
