A DIY dog fence is a great way to save money and create a custom enclosure for your furry friend. There are many different types of fences you can build, depending on your budget, skill level, and needs.

If you want a more finished look, you can add wooden boards to the top and bottom of the fence. This will also help to keep the chicken wire or welded wire mesh in place.

Once the fence is installed, you can add a gate to make it easy to come and go. Be sure to choose a gate that is strong enough to contain your dog and that has a latch that cannot be easily opened by your dog.

Make sure the fence is tall enough to prevent your dog from jumping over it. A good rule of thumb is to make the fence at least 6 inches taller than your dog’s shoulder height.
Bury the bottom of the fence at least a few inches underground to prevent your dog from digging out.
If you have a strong chewer, you may want to use a material that is more durable than chicken wire mesh. Welded wire mesh or chain link fence are both good options.
