Diy Concrete Fire Pit

Building a DIY concrete fire pit is a fun and rewarding project that can be done in a few hours. It’s also a great way to save money on a patio accessory that can bring your family and friends together for years to come.

Materials:

• Quikrete 5000 psi concrete mix
• Water
• Gravel
• Rebar
• Wire ties
• Formwork (plywood or lumber)
• Screws
• Fire bricks
• Mortar
• Safety glasses
• Gloves
• Dust mask

Instructions:

1. Choose a level spot for your fire pit.
2. Build a formwork for your fire pit. This can be done using plywood or lumber. The formwork should be slightly larger than the desired size of your fire pit.
3. Lay a layer of gravel in the bottom of the formwork. This will help to improve drainage.
4. Place a layer of rebar in the formwork. The rebar will help to reinforce the concrete.
5. Mix the concrete according to the package directions.
6. Pour the concrete into the formwork, making sure to fill it all the way to the top.
7. Use a reciprocating saw without a blade to vibrate the concrete. This will help to remove any air bubbles.
8. Cover the concrete with plastic wrap and let it cure for at least 48 hours.
9. Remove the formwork.
10. Lay a layer of fire bricks in the bottom of the fire pit.
11. Mix the mortar according to the package directions.
12. Spread a layer of mortar on the top of the fire bricks.
13. Place a layer of fire bricks on top of the mortar.
14. Repeat steps 11-13 until the fire pit is the desired height.
15. Let the mortar cure for at least 24 hours before using the fire pit.
