DIY Barn Door

Materials:

• Wood for the door (e.g., plywood, solid wood)
• Trim boards
• Barn door hardware kit
• Stain or paint (optional)

Tools:

• Miter saw
• Drill and impact driver
• Tape measure
• Safety glasses and ear protection
• Wood glue
• Finishing nails

Instructions:

1. Measure the door opening and cut the wood for the door to size, adding about 4 inches to the width to cover the opening.
2. Cut the trim boards to size and attach them to the door front using wood glue and finishing nails.
3. Assemble the barn door hardware according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
4. Install the barn door hardware on the door and wall.
5. Hang the barn door and adjust the hardware so that it slides smoothly.

Optional: Stain or paint the barn door to your desired finish.

Tips:

• Use a level to make sure that the door frame and track are level.
• Predrill holes for the screws to prevent the wood from splitting.
• Use a finishing nailer to attach the trim boards for a clean look.
• Be careful not to overtighten the hardware, as this can make the door difficult to slide.
