To make a DIY cat collar, you will need:
- Fabric (1/2 yard)
- Interfacing (1/2 yard)
- Thread
- Breakaway buckle
- D-ring
- Sewing machine
- Scissors
- Iron
Instructions:
- Cut out two pieces of fabric and two pieces of interfacing, each 16 inches long and 2 inches wide.
- Iron the interfacing to the wrong side of each piece of fabric.
- Sew the two pieces of fabric together, wrong sides facing, along the long edge, leaving a 1/2 inch seam allowance.
- Turn the collar right side out and press.
- Fold the collar in half lengthwise, right sides facing.
- Sew the two short edges together, leaving a 1/2 inch seam allowance.
- Turn the collar right side out again.
- Sew a straight stitch across the top and bottom of the collar, 1/4 inch from the edge.
- Thread the breakaway buckle through one end of the collar.
- Fold the end of the collar back and sew it in place to secure the buckle.
- Thread the D-ring onto the other end of the collar.
- Fold the end of the collar back and sew it in place to secure the D-ring.
Your cat collar is now complete!
