Squirrel Baffle Diy

A squirrel baffle is a device that prevents squirrels from climbing up to a bird feeder. There are many different types of squirrel baffles, but one of the simplest is to use a large stainless steel mixing bowl. Simply cut off the lip of the bowl and make a hole in the center the same size as your bird feeder pole. Then, slide the bowl over the pole and secure it with zip ties or duct tape. The squirrels will not be able to climb over the bowl to get to the bird feeder.

Another simple DIY squirrel baffle is to use a 5- or 6-inch galvanized duct pipe. Cut the pipe to length so that it extends at least 12 inches above and below the bird feeder. Then, slide the pipe over the bird feeder pole and secure it with zip ties or duct tape. The squirrels will not be able to climb up the smooth surface of the pipe.

You can also make a squirrel baffle out of a slinky. Simply stretch the slinky out and slide it over the bird feeder pole. The squirrels will not be able to climb up the slinky because it will move and bend as they try to climb it.

No matter what type of squirrel baffle you choose, make sure that it is securely attached to the bird feeder pole so that it cannot be easily knocked off by the squirrels.
