Diy Picket Fence

To build a DIY picket fence, you will need:

• Pressure-treated wood for the posts and pickets
• Gravel for the bottom of the post holes
• Quick-setting cement
• Post level
• Bucket
• Shovel
• Measuring tape
• Post hole digger or auger
• Safety equipment (goggles, gloves, etc.)
• Impact driver or drill
• 3" decking screws
• Fence post caps (optional)
• Scrap bricks or pavers (optional)

Instructions:

1. Measure the area where you want to build the fence and mark the locations of the posts. Posts should be spaced 8 feet apart, with an additional post at each corner and gate.
2. Dig holes for the posts at least 18 inches deep. Add a layer of gravel to the bottom of each hole before placing the post in place.
3. Use a post level to make sure that the post is plumb, then fill the hole with quick-setting cement.
4. Once the cement has dried, attach the pickets to the posts using 3" decking screws.
5. If desired, you can attach fence post caps to the top of the posts and use scrap bricks or pavers to prop up the bottom of the pickets.

Tips:

• For a more durable fence, use cedar or redwood instead of pressure-treated wood.
• If you are building the fence on a slope, you may need to use longer posts or dig deeper holes to ensure that the fence is level.
