Simple DIY Fortune Teller Costume

Turn a long, flowing skirt and a peasant blouse into a fortune teller costume with a few simple accessories.

• Table: Cut a piece of cardboard to the desired size and paint it gold, red, or another fun color. Attach two straps to the back of the table with a staple gun and slip them over your shoulders like a backpack.
• Sign: Cut a piece of posterboard to be about the width of your body and decorate it with palm readings and other fortune teller services. Make holes in the top two corners of the sign and thread a wide ribbon through them. Tie the ends around your waist like a belt.
• Accessories: Add a turban or head scarf, some large earrings, and a few bangles to complete the look. You can also carry a tarot deck or crystal ball.

Optional accessories:

• Crystal ball: Fill a clear glass ball with water and a few drops of blue food coloring. Place a candle in a holder in front of the ball to create a magical effect.
• Tarot cards: You can find tarot decks at most occult stores or online.
• Palm reading chart: Make your own palm reading chart by printing out a diagram of a hand and labeling the different lines and mounts.
