To make a DIY off-the-shoulder top, you will need a shirt or dress that you don’t mind cutting up, scissors, fabric glue, and elastic (optional).
- Put on the shirt or dress and mark where you want to cut the neckline and sleeves.
- Take off the shirt or dress and cut along the lines you marked.
- If you are using elastic, cut a piece of elastic that is the same length as the neckline of your shirt or dress.
- Fold the neckline of your shirt or dress in half lengthwise and pin the elastic to the inside of the fold.
- Sew the elastic in place, stretching it slightly as you sew.
- Turn the shirt or dress right side out and you’re done!
If you don’t have a sewing machine, you can use fabric glue to attach the elastic to the neckline. Just be sure to let the glue dry completely before wearing your top.
You can also add other embellishments to your off-the-shoulder top, such as ruffles, lace, or beads. Just get creative and have fun!
