Diy Large Concrete Planters

To make a DIY large concrete planter, you will need:

• Two plywood boxes, one slightly smaller than the other
• Concrete mix
• Rubber mallet
• Drill
• Screws
• Optional: Waterproofing membrane, microcement, paint, or lime wash

Instructions:

1. Adhere flexible trim to the top edge of the smaller box to prevent the concrete from spilling out.
2. Apply a waterproofing membrane to the inside of the larger box, if desired.
3. Mix the concrete according to the directions on the bag.
4. Pour a 2-inch layer of concrete into the bottom of the larger box.
5. Place the smaller box inside the larger box, centering it carefully.
6. Pour concrete into the space between the two boxes, tapping the sides with the rubber mallet to remove any air bubbles.
7. Fill the planter to the top, leaving about 1/2 inch of space at the top.
8. Use a drill to create drainage holes in the bottom of the planter, if desired.
9. Allow the concrete to dry for at least 24 hours before removing the planter from the mold.
10. Once the planter is dry, you can paint, lime wash, or otherwise finish it to your liking.

Tips:

• For a smoother finish, you can sand the planter lightly before painting or finishing it.
• To make a larger planter, simply use larger plywood boxes.
• You can also use other materials to create the mold for your planter, such as plastic bins or cardboard boxes.
• Be sure to wear gloves and safety glasses when working with concrete.
