Diy Egress window:

1. Plan the location and size of the window. Consider the local building code requirements for egress windows, as well as the dimensions of the window well and the space available in your basement.

2. Cut the opening for the window. Use a concrete saw to cut a hole in the foundation wall. The opening should be slightly larger than the window frame to allow for shims and insulation.

3. Frame the opening. Use pressure-treated lumber to frame the opening, following the manufacturer’s instructions. Make sure the frame is square and level.

4. Install the window. Set the window in the opening and shim it to level and plumb. Secure the window to the frame with nails or screws.

5. Install the window well. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to install the window well. Make sure the well is properly secured to the foundation and that it extends at least 36 inches above the ground.

6. Insulate and finish the window well. Insulate the window well with gravel or foam insulation. Install a window well cover to protect the window and well from debris and the elements.
