To make a DIY diamond tufted headboard, you will need:

Cut the foam to size to fit the headboard frame.
Lay the fabric over the foam and staple it to the back of the headboard frame.
Mark the center of the headboard.
Starting from the center, mark a series of dots in a diamond pattern across the fabric.
Drill a hole through each dot.
Thread the needle with the upholstery twine or waxed button thread.
Sew a button onto each end of the twine.
To tuft the headboard, insert the needle and twine through the hole in the fabric and then through the foam.
Pull the twine tight and tie it around the button on the back of the headboard.
Repeat steps 8 and 9 for each dot.
Trim any excess fabric.

Once the headboard is tufted, you can attach it to your bed frame.
