Diy Aquarium Background

To make a DIY aquarium background, you will need:

• Styrofoam
• Cement
• Silicone sealant
• Paint (optional)

Instructions:

1. Cut a piece of styrofoam to the size of the back of your aquarium.
2. Carve the styrofoam into the desired shape of your background.
3. Mix the cement according to the package directions.
4. Apply a thin layer of cement to the styrofoam background.
5. Allow the cement to dry completely.
6. Apply a second thin layer of cement to the styrofoam background.
7. Allow the cement to dry completely.
8. Apply a thin layer of silicone sealant to the back of the styrofoam background.
9. Place the styrofoam background in the aquarium and press it firmly against the back of the tank.
10. Allow the silicone sealant to dry completely.
11. (Optional) Paint the styrofoam background if desired.
12. Once the paint is dry, fill the aquarium with water and add your fish and plants.

Tips:

• Be sure to measure the back of your aquarium before you cut the styrofoam.
• Use a sharp knife to carve the styrofoam.
• Be careful not to over-apply the cement, as this can make the background too heavy.
• Allow the cement to dry completely before applying the silicone sealant.
• When applying the silicone sealant, be sure to cover the entire back of the styrofoam background.
• If you are painting the background, use a non-toxic paint that is safe for fish.
• Allow the paint to dry completely before filling the aquarium with water.
