Diy Cider Press

A DIY cider press is a simple machine that can be used to extract juice from apples to make cider. It typically consists of a frame, a press plate, and a jack. The frame holds the press plate in place, and the jack is used to apply pressure to the press plate, which squeezes the juice out of the apples.

To make a DIY cider press, you will need the following materials:

• 2×6 lumber
• Hydraulic car jack
• 5-gallon bucket
• Circular wood disk the same circumference as the bucket base
• Drill
• 4 long bolts
• 4 nuts

Instructions:

1. Build a rectangular frame out of the 2×6 lumber. The frame should be large enough to fit the bucket and the press plate inside.
2. Attach the car jack to the frame.
3. Place the bucket inside the frame and center the press plate on top of the bucket.
4. Drill four holes through the press plate and into the bucket.
5. Insert the bolts through the holes and secure them with the nuts.
6. To use the cider press, simply place the apples inside the bucket and crank the car jack. The jack will apply pressure to the press plate, which will squeeze the juice out of the apples.

Once you have extracted the juice from the apples, you can filter it through cheesecloth or a coffee filter to remove any impurities. You can then drink the cider fresh, or you can pasteurize it and store it for later.
