A DIY parts washer is a homemade device used to clean automotive, industrial, and household parts. It is a simple and inexpensive way to remove grease, grime, and dirt from parts without using harsh chemicals or solvents.
To build a DIY parts washer, you will need a container, a pump, a filter, and a cleaning solution. The container can be anything from a bucket to a large plastic storage bin. The pump should be powerful enough to circulate the cleaning solution through the container. The filter can be a simple mesh screen or a more sophisticated commercial filter. The cleaning solution can be a mixture of water and detergent, or a commercial parts cleaner.
Once you have gathered your supplies, you can begin assembling the parts washer. Drill a hole in the bottom of the container for the pump outlet. Insert the pump outlet into the hole and secure it with a hose clamp. Drill another hole in the top of the container for the pump inlet. Insert the pump inlet into the hole and secure it with a hose clamp.
Attach the filter to the pump inlet using a hose clamp. Fill the container with the cleaning solution. Turn on the pump and circulate the cleaning solution for a few minutes to mix it thoroughly.
To clean a part, simply place it in the parts washer and turn on the pump. The cleaning solution will circulate over the part, removing grease, grime, and dirt. Once the part is clean, remove it from the parts washer and rinse it with water.
DIY parts washers are a simple and effective way to clean parts without using harsh chemicals or solvents. They are also relatively inexpensive to build and maintain.
