Shepherd Costume DIY

Materials:

• Fabric for the tunic and headdress (e.g., muslin, cotton, linen)
• Hemming tape (optional)
• Iron (optional)
• Stretchy hairband (optional)
• Scissors
• Measuring tape
• Sewing machine (optional)

Instructions:

1. Measure the length of the wearer from shoulder to ankle. Cut a rectangle of fabric for the tunic that is twice this length and the desired width.
2. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise and cut a hole for the head in the center. The hole should be large enough for the wearer’s head to fit through comfortably.
3. Hem the edges of the tunic, if desired.
4. Cut a triangle of fabric for the headdress. The size of the triangle will depend on the desired size of the headdress.
5. Fold the triangle in half lengthwise and then in half again widthwise.
6. Tie the ends of the headdress together in a knot and then place it on the wearer’s head.
7. Add a belt, staff, and other accessories to complete the costume.

Tips:

• If you don’t have a sewing machine, you can sew the tunic and headdress by hand.
• You can use any color of fabric you like for the tunic and headdress.
• To make the costume more realistic, you can add dirt and grime to the fabric.
• You can also add accessories such as a beard, sandals, and a shepherd’s crook.
