DIY reverse osmosis (RO) water filtration is a process of removing contaminants from water using a semipermeable membrane. RO systems are commonly used to remove dissolved solids, such as salts and minerals, from water, but they can also remove other contaminants, such as bacteria and viruses.
To build a DIY RO system, you will need the following components:
RO membrane housing
RO membrane
Sediment filter
Carbon filter
Flow restrictor
Check valve
Storage tank
Faucet
Tubing
Fittings
Once you have gathered all of your components, you can begin assembling your RO system. The first step is to connect the sediment filter to the cold water supply line. Next, connect the carbon filter to the sediment filter. The third step is to connect the RO membrane housing to the carbon filter. Finally, connect the flow restrictor and check valve to the RO membrane housing.
Once the RO system is assembled, you can install it under your sink. To do this, you will need to drill a hole in your countertop for the faucet. You will also need to connect the drain line to the storage tank.
Once the RO system is installed, you can flush it with water for several minutes to remove any loose contaminants. After flushing the system, you can test the water quality to ensure that the system is working properly.
DIY RO systems can be a cost-effective way to get high-quality drinking water. However, it is important to note that RO systems require regular maintenance to ensure that they are working properly.
Assemble system: connect sediment filter to cold water supply line, carbon filter to sediment filter, RO membrane housing to carbon filter, flow restrictor and check valve to RO membrane housing.
Install system: drill hole in countertop for faucet, connect drain line to storage tank.
Flush system with water for several minutes.
Test water quality to ensure system is working properly.
Enjoy high-quality drinking water!
