Diy Stone Wall

To build a DIY stone wall, you will need:

• Stones of various sizes and shapes
• Mortar
• A level
• A string line
• A trowel
• A stone chisel
• Safety glasses and gloves

Instructions:

1. Choose a location for your wall and mark out the desired dimensions.
2. Excavate a trench for the foundation of the wall. The trench should be at least 12 inches deep and 6 inches wider than the intended width of the wall.
3. Fill the trench with gravel and compact it well.
4. Lay a bed of mortar on top of the gravel.
5. Place the first course of stones on the mortar bed. Use the level to ensure that the stones are level and the string line to ensure that the wall is straight.
6. Fill in between the stones with smaller stones and mortar.
7. Continue laying courses of stones until the wall reaches the desired height.
8. Once the wall is complete, allow the mortar to dry for at least 24 hours.

Tips:

• For a more rustic look, use unshaped stones. For a more polished look, use shaped stones.
• If you are using unshaped stones, you may need to chisel them to fit snugly together.
• Be sure to use a mortar that is specifically designed for stone walls.
• Allow the mortar to dry completely before using the wall.
