To make a DIY personalized mug, you will need:
- A plain mug
- Permanent adhesive vinyl (or Sharpie oil paint markers)
- Transfer tape
- Masking tape
- Weeding hook (optional)
- Applicator tool (optional)
Instructions:
- Choose your mug design and cut out the vinyl using an electronic cutter (or draw the design on the mug using the Sharpie markers).
- Weed the vinyl (remove the excess vinyl around the design) and apply transfer tape to the top of the design.
- Position the design on the mug and remove the backing paper from the transfer tape.
- Smooth the design onto the mug using the applicator tool.
- Carefully remove the transfer tape.
- If using Sharpie markers, bake the mug in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes to set the paint.
Tips:
- For a more professional look, use a heat gun to shrink the vinyl after applying it to the mug.
- To protect the design, apply a clear sealant (such as Mod Podge) to the mug.
- Be careful not to wash the mug in the dishwasher, as this could damage the design.
Enjoy your new personalized mug!
