Diy Tree Swing

To make a DIY tree swing, you will need:

• A sturdy tree branch
• A 2" x 8" plank of hardwood (such as southern yellow pine, oak, or maple)
• Two lengths of rope (about 5′ each)
• Two chain shackles
• Fender washers
• A drill
• A saw
• Screws

Instructions:

1. Choose a sturdy tree branch that is at least 8 inches in diameter and located between 10 and 15 feet from the ground.
2. Cut a 20-inch length from the hardwood plank.
3. Drill two holes in each end of the plank, about 1 inch in and centered.
4. Thread the rope through the holes in the plank, positioning a fender washer on the underside of each knot. Tie the rope in an overhand knot and leave the excess hanging.
5. Attach the chain shackles to the ends of the rope.
6. Slide the chain shackles over the tree branch and tighten them securely.
7. Adjust the length of the rope so that the swing seat is about 2-3 feet from the ground.
8. Trim the excess rope.

Your DIY tree swing is now complete! Be sure to test the swing before using it to make sure that it is secure.

Additional tips:

• Use a level to make sure that the swing seat is level before attaching the chain shackles.
• If you are using a softer wood, such as cedar, you may want to pre-drill the holes before threading the rope through them.
• You can also add a back and armrests to your swing seat for additional comfort.
• To protect the tree branch, you can wrap it with padding before attaching the chain shackles.
