To insulate your garage door yourself, you will need:
- Insulation panels
- Adhesive tape
- Retainer clips
- Utility knife
- Straight edge
- Measure and cut the insulation panels to size, adding about 1/2 inch to each measurement for a snug fit.
- Apply adhesive tape to the back of each insulation panel.
- Attach a retainer clip to each piece of adhesive tape.
- Tuck the insulation into the door panel, vinyl side facing out.
- Press the insulation against the retainer clips as you work.
- Repeat steps 2-5 for each door panel.
Tips:
- Do not install insulation when the sun is shining on the door, as the increased temperature of the door may affect the adhesion of the clips.
- Allow the adhesive to set completely before closing the garage door.
- You may need to add additional insulation to the top and bottom of the garage door to prevent air leaks.
