
To make a DIY shower pan, you will need:
- 2×6 lumber for blocking
- Tar paper
- Mortar
- Shower waterproofing material
- Lower section of cement boards
- Silicone
- Screed boards
- Tile
Instructions:
- Cut and fit the 2×6 lumber between the studs of the shower stall.
- Cover the shower drain with tape and plastic.
- Cut and lay down the tar paper on the floor of the shower.
- Mix the mortar and spread it on the floor of the shower, tapering down the edges.
- Apply silicone to the shower drain and press the waterproofing material into it.
- Fold the corners of the waterproofing material into place and nail the top to the studs.
- Install the lower section of cement boards.
- Apply a second layer of mortar to the floor of the shower, creating a slope towards the drain.
- Install the tile.
