DIY Dorothy Costume

Dorothy’s costume is one of the easiest to make, and you can find most of the materials you need at a thrift store.

What you’ll need:

• Blue and white gingham dress or skirt and top
• Red shoes
• White socks
• Hair bows
• Basket
• Stuffed Toto toy (optional)

Instructions:

1. If you’re making your own dress, simply sew together two pieces of blue and white gingham fabric. You can also use a pre-made dress or skirt and top.
2. If you don’t have red shoes, you can spray paint any pair of shoes red.
3. Put on your dress, shoes, and socks.
4. Tie two hair bows in your hair.
5. Put Toto in the basket and carry it with you.

That’s it! You’re now ready to follow the yellow brick road to the Emerald City.

Tips:

• If you want to make your costume extra special, you can add some details like a ruby necklace or a basket with flowers.
• For a more comfortable costume, you can wear a pair of leggings under your skirt.
• If you’re dressing your child up as Dorothy, you can put them in a blue and white striped onesie instead of a dress.
