To make a simple DIY hummingbird feeder, you will need:
- A clean plastic bottle or jar
- A red plastic folder or other red material
- Scissors
- A hole punch
- String
- Hummingbird nectar (mix 1 part sugar with 4 parts water)
Instructions:
- Cut out two or three flower shapes from the red plastic.
- Punch a hole in the center of each flower.
- Thread a piece of string through each hole and tie it securely.
- Fill the plastic bottle or jar with hummingbird nectar.
- Screw the lid back on tightly.
- Hang the feeder from a tree or other sturdy object.
Hummingbirds are attracted to the red color of the feeder, and the holes in the flowers will allow them to drink the nectar. Be sure to clean the feeder regularly and replace the nectar every few days.
