To make a DIY lava lamp, you will need:
- A clear jar or bottle
- Water
- Vegetable oil
- Food coloring
- Alka-Seltzer tablets
Instructions:
- Fill the jar or bottle about 1/2 to 2/3 full with water.
- Add a few drops of food coloring and stir to mix.
- Fill the rest of the jar or bottle with vegetable oil.
- Break an Alka-Seltzer tablet into a few small pieces and drop them into the jar or bottle.
- Watch as the bubbles from the Alka-Seltzer tablet react with the water and oil, creating a lava lamp effect!
You can adjust the amount of food coloring and Alka-Seltzer tablets to create different effects. For example, if you want the lava to be brighter, add more food coloring. If you want the lava to flow more quickly, add more Alka-Seltzer tablets.
Here is a simpler version:
- Fill a clear jar about 1/2 full with water.
- Add a few drops of food coloring and stir to mix.
- Fill the rest of the jar with vegetable oil.
- Drop an Alka-Seltzer tablet into the jar.
- Watch the lava lamp come to life!
