DIY Fly Trap

Materials:

• A clear plastic bottle (e.g., soda bottle)
• Scissors
• Bait (e.g., ripe fruit, sugar water, meat scraps)
• Vinegar (optional)
• Dish soap (optional)

Instructions:

1. Cut the top third of the plastic bottle off.
2. Invert the top part of the bottle and place it inside the bottom part, creating a funnel.
3. Add bait to the bottom of the bottle.
4. (Optional) Add a splash of vinegar and a few drops of dish soap to the water.
5. Place the trap in a location where flies are present.

How it works:

Flies will be attracted to the bait and fly into the trap through the funnel. Once inside, they will have difficulty finding their way out and will eventually drown. The vinegar and dish soap (if used) will help to attract and trap the flies more effectively.

Tips:

• Empty and clean the trap regularly to prevent the buildup of dead flies and bacteria.
• Place the trap in a sunny spot to attract more flies.
• Use different types of bait to attract different types of flies.
• If you are using a jar trap, you can cover the opening with plastic wrap and poke small holes in it to allow the flies to enter.

• Keep fly traps out of reach of children and pets.
• Dispose of dead flies properly to avoid attracting other pests.
